Walk into Sam's on any given afternoon and the disposable wall is the first thing most folks ask about. There are a lot of options, the packaging all looks similar, and the marketing numbers don't always tell you what you actually care about. So here's how we think about it at the counter — no hype, just the stuff worth knowing before you spend your money.
What "best" actually means
A disposable is best when it does the boring things well: it lasts as long as it claims, the airflow feels right for how you draw, the flavor holds up to the last puff, and the battery doesn't die before the e-liquid runs out. Everything else is marketing. Here are the four specs we point people to.
Puff count (read it with a grain of salt)
That big number on the box — 6,000, 9,000, 15,000 puffs — is a lab estimate based on short, gentle puffs. Real-world use lands lower, especially if you take longer draws. Use it to compare devices in the same lineup, not as a guarantee. A higher puff count generally means more e-liquid and a bigger battery, which is why those devices cost more.
Rechargeable vs. single-charge
Most higher-capacity disposables in 2026 are rechargeable (USB-C). That's a good thing: it means the battery won't quit while there's still liquid left. If you're buying a big-puff device and it isn't rechargeable, that's a red flag — you may not get the full count out of it.
Airflow and draw
This is the most personal call and the one people overlook. Tight, cigarette-like draws (often called MTL, mouth-to-lung) suit folks coming off cigarettes. Airier, smoother draws suit people who want bigger clouds. Some 2026 devices have an adjustable airflow ring — worth it if you're not sure what you like yet. Nicotine strength
Disposables in Texas are commonly sold at 5% (50 mg/mL) nicotine salt. That's strong — appropriate for a heavy former smoker, often too much for a light or social user. Some lines now offer 2%–3% options. If a 5% device feels harsh or gives you a head-rush, you probably want to step down, not power through it.
Flavor: trust your nose, not the label art
Flavor is subjective, and honestly the label graphics tell you nothing. A few practical notes:
- Menthol/ice flavors tend to taste consistent from first puff to last.
- Dessert and candy flavors can get muddy near the end of a device.
- Fruit is the biggest category and the most hit-or-miss between brands.

A quick word on price

Storage and care
- Keep it out of a hot truck cab — Texas summer heat degrades e-liquid and can stress the battery.
- Store it upright when you can.
- If a device starts tasting burnt, it's usually out of liquid. That's the end of its life; don't keep pulling on it.
The legal and safety part (we mean it)
- 21+ only. Texas law requires it and we card everyone.
- These products contain nicotine, which is addictive.
- We don't make health claims, and neither should any shop. Vaping is not marketed by us as a cessation device or a "safe" alternative — it's an adult product for adults who already use nicotine.
- No cannabinoid vapes. Texas does not permit the sale of Delta/THC vape products, and we don't carry them. Anything on our wall is nicotine or zero-nic only.
